Armor archetypes decide where the two biggest numbers land on an Armor 3.0 drop. Use this table to read your calculator result, choose the right Ghost focus, and avoid keeping rolls that cannot support your target build.
On a perfect Tier 5 roll, the primary has 30 points, the secondary has 25, and the tertiary has 20 before masterwork bonuses. The remaining three stats receive the masterwork floor.

How to choose an armor archetype
Start from the two stats your build must push hardest. If an archetype matches both, its 30/25 pair gives you an efficient base. If no pair matches exactly, combine complementary archetypes across five slots and use the tertiary rolls to bridge the gap. That is the problem the homepage calculator solves automatically.
Do not choose an archetype from its name alone. A Powerhouse is Weapons plus Super; a Siegebreaker is Health plus Grenade. The stat pair, not the fantasy label, determines whether the drop belongs in your build.
What changed in June 2026
Bungie added Siegebreaker, Skirmisher, Demolitionist, Colossus, Reaver, and Powerhouse with Monument of Triumph. The original six remain available, bringing the total to 12. Bungie also increased the selected Ghost Armorer mod's archetype odds to one in two, making targeted farming more useful even though the drop pool grew.
Exotic Armor 3.0 now uses Tier 5 stats and can access all tuning mods. Exotic class items retain their special stat-roll behavior, so treat them as a build-specific exception.
Farming workflow
Use the archetype table in three steps
Calculate the build. Enter all six target stats, net fragment offsets, and the number of minor mods you need.
Focus the repeated archetype. If the result asks for several copies of one archetype, set the matching Ghost Armorer focus before farming.
Check tertiary and tuning. The archetype alone is not the full roll. Confirm the 20-point tertiary and, when the result needs it, the tuned stat before marking a piece complete.
Armor archetype FAQ
Questions Guardians ask before farming
How many Destiny 2 armor archetypes are there?
There are 12 Armor 3.0 archetypes after Monument of Triumph. Six launched with The Edge of Fate and six more were added on June 9, 2026.
What does an armor archetype control?
An archetype fixes the two highest stats on an Armor 3.0 drop: a primary and a secondary. A tertiary is selected from one of the remaining four stats.
Can any stat be the tertiary?
The tertiary can be any of the four stats that are not already the archetype's primary or secondary stat.
Do I need one of every archetype and tertiary?
No. Exhaustively collecting every combination would waste vault space. Start with a target-stat calculation and farm only the profiles that support builds you intend to use.
